Horse kicks, anthrax and the Poisson model for deaths.

چکیده
Most epidemiologists use the Poisson model for deaths. In the old days we used it (and a slide rule) to calculate the standard errors of death rates and indirect standard mortality ratios. Now you can get exact limits from the Internet and Poisson regression analysis has made multivariate analyses of mortality and incidence data possible. It seems reasonable to ask who first introduced the model. 1

Comparison between Efficiency of Poisson Regression Model and Negative Binomial Regression in the Analysis of Factors Affecting Mortality from Cardiovascular Diseases in Yazd Province in 2017
Introduction: Despite the advances in cardiovascular diseases, death caused by these diseases is still considered as the leading cause of mortality. In this study, some of the effective factors on the deaths caused by cardiovascular diseases were investigated Methods: This cross-sectional analytical study investigated the efficacy of Poisson regression models and negative binomial regres...
متن کاملManagement of Olecranon Fracture in a Horse
Abstract: Case Description- Olecranon fractures are frequently encountered in horses especially in foals. External trauma due to kicks or falls is the most common cause of the fracture. Treatment modalities of olecranon fractures including prolonged stall rest and surgical reconstruction of the different types of fractures have been proposed with different outcomes. Clinical findin...

Background and purpose: Due to the increasing information about illnesses and deaths, classified map is of appropriate methods for analyzing this type of data. Standardized infection rates are commonly used in disease mapping but had many defects. This study aimed to compare the Poisson regression models and empirical Bayes models to prepare geographical map of tuberculosis incidence in Mazanda...
متن کاملUpdating perspectives on the initiation of Bacillus anthracis growth and dissemination through its host.
Since 1957, it has been proposed that the dissemination of inhalational anthrax required spores to be transported from the lumena of the lungs into the lymphatic system. In 2002, this idea was expanded to state that alveolar macrophages act as a "Trojan horse" capable of transporting spores across the lung epithelium into draining mediastinal lymph nodes. Since then, the Trojan horse model of d...
متن کاملModeling Count Data
Count models are a subset of discrete response regression models. Count data are distributed as non-negative integers, are intrinsically heteroskedastic, right skewed, and have a variance that increases with the mean. Example count data include such situations as length of hospital stay, the number of a certain species of fish per defined area in the ocean, the number of lights displayed by fir...
